Microneedling is very popular right now. But there are so many options when it comes to the who, and the what.
Let us relieve some of the stress that comes with researching the right treatment and tell you what we use and how we use it!
What is it?
Microneedling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that utilizes tiny sterilized needles to make controlled micro-injuries in the skin.
Why do we need it?
Microneedling can help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and acne scarring.
Why it works:
The creation of micro injuries stimulates the start of a wound healing cascade. Allowing the skin to endure minimal damage, and begin producing growth factors. This leads to the creation of collagen and elastin, as well as the breaking down of scar tissue (if applicable) in the process.
What do we use:
ACS pen:
-
- Width and Depth: The ACS pen is designed in a linear, single-row format ensuring precision and accuracy as well as safety with it’s single use tips.
- The method: During your session with the ACS pen the single row of needles will be applied to the area of treatment in a “cross-hatching” style. This ensures that each area will receive the same amount of focus as the next. This technique creates a “false wound” in the epidermis, meaning that no blood flow or tissue has been damaged. Your body however will register a disturbance and begin repairing the skin- strengthening it and correcting cosmetic concerns with new cells.
Procell:
-
- Width and Depth: Procell offers 3 different width attachments for the device, all available in a range of various fixed depths. These preset depths ensure consistency across the entire treatment area, paired with the appropriate width attachment your provider will be able to complete your treatment in a timely manner.
- “Stamping method”: Procell MD device is engineered to maintain 9,300 RPM (revolutions per minute). This refers to how quickly the device’s internal mechanism moves up and down, more easily referred to as stamping. This vertical stamping motion ensures there is no dragging, gliding, or pulling. Minimizing unnecessary trauma.
To Summarize:
While there may be dozens of different techniques and tools on the market for microneedling, it’s important to remember what is at the center of it all – results. Here at the Aqua Spa we’ve seen great results from both of our microneedling devices!
Each one is selected for a variety of different reasons for treatments, for example:
- Client comfortability
- Aesthetician comfortability
- Which device will produce the best results specific to that client’s concern
Now that we’ve discussed what microneedling devices we use here at the Aqua Spa, it’s important to educate yourself on if the treatment could be right for you. Always consult with a professional (in our case, our aestheticians!) to see if the treatment will be right for your goals.
