Oswego Health proudly launched a month-long celebration in honor of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals with a special kickoff event recognizing the outstanding contributions of local EMS agencies and announcing a new wellness partnership designed to support those on the front lines.
Held ahead of National EMS Week (May 18–24), the event underscored the deep collaboration between Oswego Health and local EMS teams. Representatives from Oswego City Fire Department, Menter Ambulance, McFee Memorial Ambulance, Fulton Fire Department, Brewerton EMS, NOCA, and SAVAC were honored for their critical role in providing life-saving care throughout Oswego County.
“We didn’t want to wait to say thank you,” said Michael C. Backus, Oswego Health President and CEO. “Our EMS professionals are our community’s first line of care — responders, protectors, and healers. Their courage and compassion impact every life they touch, and we are proud to stand with them as partners in healthcare.”
The ceremony featured remarks from Dr. Sana, Chief Medical Officer and Emergency Services physician at Oswego Health, who emphasized the essential connection between EMS and hospital care. “The community may not always see how closely we work together, but the partnership between EMS and our hospital system forms a continuum of care that begins the moment a call for help is answered,” said Dr. Sana. “Your work gives patients their best chance at recovery.”
Local officials, including City of Oswego Mayor Robert Corradino and City of Fulton Mayor James Rice, issued proclamations recognizing the service and sacrifice of EMS professionals. Each agency in attendance received a special gift from Oswego Health in recognition of their ongoing commitment to the community.
Oswego Health also announced a new partnership with Aqua Spa Float Center & Wellness Boutique as a meaningful extension of this appreciation. Through this initiative, all EMS professionals in Oswego County will receive complimentary wellness experiences to providerest, recovery, and rejuvenation.
“At Oswego Health, we care for those who care for others,” said Jamie Leszczynski, Oswego Health SVP of Communications. “This partnership is a small but powerful way to say: you are seen, valued, and your well-being matters.”
Tammy Wilkinson, Owner of Aqua Spa, shared her enthusiasm for supporting local heroes. “These professionals give so much of themselves every day. We’re honored to offer them peace and wellness in return.”
The event concluded with a series of group photos that captured the unity and gratitude of the community’s healthcare and emergency service leaders.
